Job Summary: 

The Trauma Program Coordinator RN will work directly with the physician leader to develop and manage Kent Hospital's trauma program, focusing on quality, education, and compliance by overseeing data/registry, leading performance improvement, acting as a liaison for pre-hospital/internal teams, and coordinating education for staff and community, ensuring evidence-based care for trauma patients across the continuum. Key duties include quality assurance, data abstraction, protocol development, staff training, and program accreditation.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS): Leading systematic clinical reviews and chart audits to identify trends, complications, and opportunities for care improvement.

Program Development; work in collaboration with the physician leadership to develop program and work toward program accreditation

Trauma Registry Management: Overseeing the collection, coding, and validation of patient data to ensure accurate reporting to state and national databases.

Regulatory Compliance: Preparing the facility for trauma center surveys, accreditation reviews, and ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations.

Clinical Liaison: Acting as a single point of contact between departments (ER, ICU, Surgery), EMS agencies, and the Trauma Medical Director to coordinate multidisciplinary care.

Education & Outreach: Developing trauma-related training for nursing staff and EMS providers, and organizing community injury prevention programs.

Direct Care Support: Some roles require attending "Trauma Activations" to serve as a bedside resource for the clinical team during emergencies

Performs other duties as assigned to support Trauma Program operations, regulatory readiness, and patient care initiatives.

Requirements: 

Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree Preferred.

Minimum 3 to 5 Years experience.

Active Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) license required, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
