Primary Function

The Quality Improvement Specialist plays a key role in monitoring hospital compliance with regulatory requirements. This is accomplished through concurrent and retrospective electronic medical record audits and abstracting relevant clinical information. This information is compiled for reports provided to Clinical, Administrative and Executive Leaders. The Quality Improvement specialist ensures that regulatory data is submitted to regulatory agencies including the Center for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS), the Department of Health (DOH), and The Joint Commission (TJC). The Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Quality in maintaining a state of continuous readiness for regulatory surveys. The Specialist interacts effectively with clinical staff and provides education in hospital Quality of Care measures. The Specialist participates in quality improvement projects and facilitates improvements in hospital care.
