Job Summary:
Engagement Specialist (CES) advances our mission to help Rhode Islanders struggling with mental health and substance use conditions, live the healthiest lives possible by establishing and developing strong relationships between The Providence Center and our community partners. The CES will support The Providence Center’s efforts to address the social determinants of health, drive health equity, and be an integral part of the community we serve. This role will support a growing array of strategic initiatives related to community engagement and health equity.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
I. Application of Knowledge and Skill
A. Maintains community event calendar and roster of meetings in which The Providence Center participates, such as Health Equity Zones; coordinates participation or acts as representative.
B. Participates in internal and external meetings related to community health initiatives and priorities
C. Maintains community resources for case management staff and coordinates outside agencies providing education to staff.
D. Assists with coordination of meetings, agendas and notes for the the Consumer Advisory Council, and supports membership
E. Seeks and surfaces opportunities to improve engagement with people with lived experience of health inequity and illness to improve program design and inform community health strategy
F. Engages with community organizations to continuously improve connections with community-based organizations, primary care, etc.
G. Acts as liaison to Marketing team for updates to materials for events.
H. Works with the Talent Acquisition team to assist with recruitment events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret grant applications. Ability to respond to inquiries from grant sources and staff. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements or other technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be able to gather information from several sources and generate comprehensive reports/applications. Must possess good computer and typing skills. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications, ability to work independently and collaboratively required.
