Endoscopy technician (Per Diem )

Primary Function

Responsible for supporting nursing staff and Physicians in providing equipment, instruments and supplies during endoscopic procedure. Scope of job ranges from equipment management and maintenance to establishing and maintaining proper, up-to-date inventory.

Responsibilities

Assist RN and Physician with technical support during endoscopic procedures.

Assist with preoperative room setup, intra-operative technical assistance, post operative room turnover.

Responsible for the transport of patients and ensuring all needed instrumentation, equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.

Disinfects video scopes and auxiliary equipment through special manual washing techniques and operation of pre-programmed fully automated system/washer. Conduct visual inspection and operational testing of video scopes and some auxiliary equipment.

Maintain and order supplies as necessary to perform job.

Assist nursing staff through direct patient care as needed and requested.

Gather information from different vendors under direction of RN to investigate their ability to meet quality and cost requirements.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

A graduate of a certified surgical technician program or equivalent through hospital training and years of experience. Endoscopy experience preferred.
