Polysomnographic Technician

Primary Function: Performs the duties of a Sleep Lab Technician, scores sleep record of patient and prepares for physician interpretation.

Responsibilities

-Performs duties of a Sleep lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings. Generates computerized PSG report.

-Interprets raw data: score polysomnogram for sleep stages using standardized criteria, compute parameters to include sleep latency, sleep efficiency and percentage of sleep stages, analyze apneas and arousals(muscle and spontaneous).

-Determine heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages. Identify and quantify abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration. Identifies normal/abnormal patterns, artifacts and sleep/wake stages.

- Assist with marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians. -

-Provides information to the medical staff with regard to test capabilities and requirements in order to increase medical staff knowledge of polysomnographic testing.

-Provides in-service education to sleep lab staff

-Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Specification: Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required.
