Job Summary:

The Lactation Consultant serves as the clinical resource for breastfeeding for patients, staff, and providers. Actively promotes breastfeeding and safe feeding practices throughout all areas of the organization where patients might be served; including the inpatient unit, outpatient program, the emergency room, or via the Warmline. Collaborates with the lactation consultant team to coordinate all aspects of the lactation program, and monitors the effectiveness and qualify of lactation programs. Collaborates with the clinical education department and the clinical units to assess the educational needs of staff, develop and plan education programs as needed.

Specifications:

Must have and maintain current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Rhode Island. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners certification (IBCLC) required. Valid Rhode Island Lactation Consultant licensure (LLC) required. Minimum of 3 years related work experience as an RN/IBCLC required. Teaching experience preferred. Excellent human relations and communication skills required.
