Job Summary:

The Providence Center Peer Recovery Specialist Anchor MORE provides Outreach Recovery Support with people in RI communities who are in need of recovery support. Peer Recovery Specialists provide individual and group support in multiple settings, and provide referrals for resources like detox, housing, outpatient treatment, clothing/food and overdose prevention/Narcan training. This staff member also provides educational outreach to providers and community groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide community outreach including, distributing harm reductions supplies, Narcan, transport to treatment, canvassing hot spots where overdoses are high.

Provide individual recovery support.

Facilitate recovery support groups.

Provide information and referrals for community based resources.

Serve as advocate for program participants and assist them to develop self-advocacy skills.

Complete all required documentation clearly and on time.

Communicate effectively and respectfully with all program participants and coworkers; and with community partners. Maintain positive relationships.

Complete all trainings as assigned.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED required. Associates Degree or higher preferred.

RI State certified Recovery Coach or plan to complete this within first year.

Understanding of community resources and recovery oriented systems of care model.

MUST have a valid driver’s license, registration and proper auto insurance.

Knowledge of basic crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and some case management techniques required. Ability to act as an advocate for the needs of the parent is required.

Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of, and belief in, the SUD recovery process

Minimum of 2 years established recovery time

Positive communication skills

Must be 21 years old or older
