Job Summary:

The Providence Center Peer Recovery Support Specialist Anchor Community Center works with people who participate in Anchor Recovery Community Center Services, providing individual and group recovery coaching, and helping with activities. This staff member is responsible to help maintain a positive community environment, in which Anchor members are able to develop recovery capital and learn about the recovery process. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will provide skills training and will assist with resource development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide individual recovery support.

Facilitate recovery support groups.

Facilitate skills development, through educational training sessions.

Provide information and referrals for community based resources.

Help lead activities and events, in-house and in community settings.

Ensures safety for all participants, by following policies and procedures.

Serve as an advocate for program participants and assist them to develop self-advocacy skills.

Complete all required documentation clearly and on time.

Communicate effectively and respectfully with all program participants and co-workers; and with community partners.

Maintain positive relationships.

Complete all trainings as assigned.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

High School diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree or higher preferred.

RI State certified Recovery Coach or plan to complete this within first year.

Understanding of community resources and recovery oriented systems of care model.

MUST have a valid driver’s license, registration and proper auto insurance.

Knowledge of basic crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and some case management techniques required.

Ability to act as an advocate for the needs of the individual t is required.

Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of, and belief in, the addiction recovery process.

Must be a person with lived addiction recovery experience, with a minimum of 2 years established and continuous recovery time.

Positive communication skills.

Must be 21 years old or older.
