Lactation Counselor Per Diem

Job Summary: The Lactation Counselor provides breastfeeding instruction and assistance to postpartum women on an in-patient basis. The incumbent monitors patient technique, addresses concerns of lactating women, and provides referrals for special needs or post-discharge follow up. Coordinates efforts with health care team and maintains related documentation and records.

Specifications: High school graduate; Associate’s Degree preferred. Successful completion of approved Certified Lactation Counselor program and current CPR certification required. Must have maternal/child health experience, and demonstrated ability to work with groups and individuals. Must be fluent in the English language; fluency in Spanish also highly desirable
