The Butler Hospital Memory and Aging Program (MAP), a worldwide leader in research on Alzheimer’s disease, is seeking a full-time analytical professional to serve as our program’s Research Data Manager. The MAP has more than 25 years of history in conducting clinical research trials and hosts the Butler Alzheimer’s Prevention Registry, which has over 3000 participants interested in research trials. The Research Data Manager will oversee the development and use of research data systems and guarantees data for accuracy, functionality and security. The chosen candidate will have a strong aptitude for technology, data analytics, professional demeanor, and an interest in clinical research. To excel in this role, you should also have excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assess and recommend improvement in the clinical research data flow in MAP. Types of data include survey responses, cognitive test performances, and biomarker test results (brain imaging, cerebrospinal fluid, blood).

Work closely with the Director of the Butler Alzheimer’s Prevention Registry to upgrade the current data system, with emphasis on scalability, user-friendliness, and integration of data sources in the larger MAP program.

Perform statistical analyses and prepare data summaries and report in statistical and graphic formats for operational and scientific meetings.

Work with MAP investigators to develop data management plan in the context of project start up and grant submission.

Works with MAP investigators to prepare tabular and graphical representations of data to support publications, presentations, and grant submissions.

Manage data requests from MAP investigators and external collaborators.

Monitor the data systems and user activities to ensure data accuracy and security, adherence to legal and hospital regulations, and HIPAA protection of delicate information.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field

A minimum of 2 years of experience in data management or analysis, preferably of large dataset and clinical data.

An analytical mindset, superb problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively with a team.

Superb communication skills with an ability to translate and present complex problems clearly in non-technical terms.

Knowledge in statistical analysis and experience using statistical packages e.g., R, SAS, SPSS

Experience in using common database platforms e.g., Redcap, SQL, Access
