Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist PD assists in coordinating the hospital’s Safety Program and Emergency Preparedness related activities. Helps develop and maintain computerized information systems to record and monitor risk management and safety related data. Develops and prepares department reports for senior management. Assists in coordinating all risk-related Risk Management/Safety information with regulatory agencies and other internal and external sources. Provides support to maintain the Hospital's Risk Management program. Helps coordinate the safety and emergency preparedness functions of the Hospital. Educates employees in safety and emergency preparedness related issues.

Specifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or related field with three to five years experience, preferably in Risk/Safety Management in a hospital setting, or equivalent level of education and experience required. Proficient with PC-based data management and statistical software applications and knowledge of Rhode Island Workers Compensation Laws required. Excellent oral/written communications skills and strong analytical abilities necessary. Safety or Industrial Hygiene Certificate desirable. Manual dexterity required for regular operation of computer and other office equipment.
