Job Summary:

The Providence Center Medical Office Assistant - Bilingual will perform routine and higher level administrative tasks to assist physicians, nurses and other clinical staff in effectively accomplishing their medical duties. Maintain cooperative, respectful relationships with Center Staff, local agencies, consumers and the public.

Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Maintain cooperative, respectful relationships with Center Staff, local agencies, consumers and the public.

Work in cooperation with coworkers and supervisory staff in a constructive manner.

Accept and benefit from constructive criticism.

Provide excellent customer service.

Interact with Access/Intake staff to facilitate the preadmission process.

Enter and confirm all demographic and insurance information.

Determine and collect deductibles and copay, as appropriate.

Update patient demographic in computer

Check in clients. Respond to incoming telephone calls from outside agencies, insurance companies, staff and consumers. Refer to the appropriate staff member, service component or community resource.

Answer calls in a courteous manner; transfer calls appropriately.

Answer questions and investigate if answer is not known until resolution.

Schedule appointments for clinical staff. Enter schedules on computer system, as well as appointments, meetings, assessment slots, etc.

Cover as needed for other staff during staff vacancies, absences, vacations, leave of absences, etc.

Make copies and/or fax documents for physician in accordance with HIPPA guidelines and TPC policies.

Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.

Obtain patient information as directed by physician from other agencies.

Obtain patient’s laboratory results and recent medication sheet from their PCP.

Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature and weight)

Follow-up with Case Managers to assure patients keep their lab appointments.

Fill out D-Form for Clozaril per physician.

Sort and distribute diagnostic test results.

Fill out basic information on TDI forms, forward to physician for signature.

Serve as a resource to staff regarding the Hispanic/Latino community.

Interpret/translate both language and cultural concerns for staff and other community service providers, as appropriate.

Requirements:

High school diploma and two years experience as a Medical Assistant, certificate required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bilingual Spanish required.

Must possess good typing skills as well as good spelling and grammar.

Excellent communication skills required.

General computer experience also required.
