Primary Function

The Occupational Health Nurse provides nursing care/health education and guidance to hospital employees through a comprehensive employee health program. Provides first aid/initial assessment for employees who become ill or are injured at work, maintains appropriate records and reporting of work-related illnesses/injuries and ensures compliance with applicable regulations and programs. The Occupational Health Nurse screens all new employees, confirming that immunizations/inoculations are up to date and provides immunizations/inoculations when necessary, assuring that employees are in compliance with the Department of Health regulations. Assists in designing and implementing health in-service programs, and develops protocols to monitor employee health and prevent employee work-related accidents and illnesses.


Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelorís Degree in Nursing preferred. Current licensure as a professional nurse in the State of Rhode Island Required. Minimum of one to three years of clinical experience in a hospital environment. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills and proficiency in personal computer data management.
