Primary Function

Responsible across all CNE entities for administering and coordinating all Patient Registration activities to ensure daily efficient operations and staff compliance with all established policies and procedures. The Director of Patient Registration is responsible across CNE entities for all patient data management and inpatient bed management functions. The Director of Patient Registration is responsible to keep up to date on insurance requirements. Assumes responsibility for critical departmental issues.

 

Specifications

Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or business related field with a minimum of 5 years management experience in a revenue cycle or acute healthcare environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral and written skills and knowledge and ability to collaborate with clinical, operational and financial areas required.

I. Application of Knowledge and Skill

  1. Responsible across all CNE entities for ensuring that Federal and State regulations are adhered to.
  2. Manage all activities of the departments by providing leadership and serving as a resource to evaluate and identify strategies for problem solving.
  3. Establish and maintain system-wide standardization for patient registration across all CNE entities.
  4. Collaboration with other areas within the Revenue Cycle Division to ensure uninsured and underinsured patients are directed to appropriate resources.
  5. Coordinates with Case Management, Nursing and other applicable departments across CNE entities to facilitate smooth patient admissions and patient flow.
  6. Participates in multi-disciplinary teams whose function is to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal viability of CNE.
  7. Oversees the process of the collection of payments at the time of services.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of all payer policies as they relate to insurance coverage and eligibility of third party payers, in determining proper coverage and patient liability.
  9. Performs managerial responsibilities such as hiring, interviewing, training, conducting performance evaluations, providing disciplinary action and recommending salary increases.
  10. Where applicable, oversees the admission process, patient placement and the processing of patients for elective, scheduled and emergency room admissions.
  11. Ensures high levels of performance, achievement of goals and quality of results across CNE through all Revenue Cycle team managers.
  12. Preserves and protects patient's rights to confidentiality.
  13. Performs other related duties as requested.
