Primary Function

The Triage Nurse handles live calls for all patients calling the office with questions, documents the encounters and makes recommendations based on their scope of practice and established protocols. Assists management of the message pool for the triage nurses.

  1. Communicate with physicians and other Practice staff to consult on patient status and to ensure continuity of care.

 

  1. Maintain patientís medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely.

 

  1. Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in-services and/or reading journals.

 

  1. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Qualifications and Specifications

 

Graduation from an accredited nursing program with RI State Licensure is required. RN License preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

 

Physical Environment

 

The job is typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday. The job is also regularly required to be exposed to a work environment which requires safety precautions to be taken.

  1. Monitors patientís condition to alleviate complications.

 

  1. Acts as a patient advocate, safeguarding the rights and confidentiality of patients at all times.

 

  1. Assess, treat and care for patients in a manner appropriate to the age of the patient.
