Primary Function

 

The Practice Manager will manage a large department or service line, which may be located at several different sites. This will include staff scheduling and management and coordinating physician schedules.

The Practice Manager is responsible for embracing and supporting a vision to create and support specialty clinics that provide advanced and collaborative patient and family-centered care. The Practice Manager is charged with motivating and leading staff to carry this vision forward. Performs duties under the supervision of the Practice Administrator.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the Family Care Center Pawtucket
  2. In collaboration with Practice Administrator, apply knowledge of physician practice management, budget management, reimbursement processes, and strategic planning and implementation to ensure the department practice standards and needs are met.
  3. Promotes positive inter-departmental and inter-organizational relationships for the purpose of improving patient care and supporting the practice.
  4. Understand the fundamentals of medical billing, collections, and referral management. Must have an understanding of physician and hospital based billing.
  5. Excellent communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
  6. Leadership skills across a broad range of constituents. Ability to lead and develop teams focused on patient satisfaction.
  7. Use exceptional judgment and discretion in interacting with physicians and senior management on sensitive political and confidential issues.
  8. Manage complex physician schedules, ensuring coverage of multiple tasks.
  9. Develop and mentor staff.
  10. Manage multiple complex and concurrent projects.
  11. Solve complex problems associated with a large scale practice.
  12. Create and implement action plans.
  13. Work collaboratively with patients, staff and providers.
  14. Work independently to complete projects.
  15. Prioritize work and multi-task.
  16. Develops systems necessary for efficient operation of Physician Practices (eg. Daily staff schedule, office processes, charge entry, filing system and inventory control.)
  17. Creates and maintains physician schedules in the Practice Management system.
  18. Ensures practice and staff compliance with HIPAA regulations
  19. Supervises office personnel, distributes and reviews their work, completes their evaluations. Addresses performance issues and initiates disciplinary action when necessary. Responsible for interviewing and orienting new employees and providing ongoing training as necessary.
  20. Addresses and resolves customer/patient concerns and complaints.
  21. Assists in developing and implementing departmental manuals and policies and procedures. Assists with development of the Departmental budget.
  22. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications and Specifications

Bachelorís degree preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in health care services, as well as 2-5 years of supervisory experience. Experience managing a multi-specialty practice preferred.
