Provide individual and group therapy and monitor client progress.

Responsibilities:

Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, individual and group substance abuse counseling, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients receiving treatment from Providence Center within the DOC

Treat clients with respect.

Evaluate psychological, social and physiological signs and symptoms of substance abuse.

Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.

Develop a diagnostic evaluation of the clientís substance abuse and any co-existing conditions.

Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.

Serve as a role model to clients on a daily basis in such areas as daily living skills and decision making.

Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems.

Monitor client progress.

Provide information regarding client condition

Monitor client withdrawal and provide triage.

Match clients to appropriate levels of care and facilitate referrals for clients.

Match clients by demonstrating understanding of the established diagnostic criteria for substance abuse disorders.

Complete record keeping in accordance with DOCís Health Information Services and the Centerís Performance Improvement dept.

Use DOCís EMR to complete documentation including substance abuse assessment and behavioral health assessment.

Complete progress notes with appropriate format.

Develop and implement treatment plans with client input.

Complete required reports and evaluations.

Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner.

Maintain cooperative relationships with Center and DOC staff, clients, community agencies and the public.

Establish and maintain productive and effective communications with clients, family members and staff.

Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.

Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner.

Benefit from constructive criticism.

Accept and use direction and supervision.

Assist with discharge planning as necessary.

Utilize available community resources in the recovery continuum.

Maintain active involvement in professional and lay mental health organizations within the community.

Attend trainings, staff meetings, case presentations, conferences, etc.

Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.

Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.

Serve on appropriate Center or DOC committees.

Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field and/or LCDP plus 2 yearsí experience in the substance abuse field. Experience with co-occurring disorders preferred. Must have awareness of the general trends in confronting the problems of addiction and recovery.

Valid driverís license and insured auto.

LCDP or actively working toward licensure is required.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, DOC and Center employees. Ability to speak Spanish desired.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
