Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist responds to consult requests by order of NICU, SCN
and NNNS medical staff. The incumbent provides assessment and direct intervention/treatment to assist premature infants and/or infants who have experienced illness or injury in performance of age-appropriate developmental tasks of infancy. Consultation and education are provided to family and team members to enhance infant development and promote infant functional performance, while conserving energy for healing and growth. Follow-up services after hospital discharge also may be provided.
Specifications: Requires Master’s Degree or equivalent experience with Certification as a Registered Occupational Therapist by the NCBOT - National Certification Board for Occupational Therapy and Rhode Island licensure. Must have and maintain NRP (Newborn Resuscitation Program) Certification and CPR certification. Must have three to five years experience in providing occupational therapy services to infants and/or toddlers, including assessment, direct services, and consultation. NICU and infant feeding experience preferred. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be fluent in the English language.
