Primary Function

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Oncology is responsible for appropriate and accurate medication order review and verification to ambulatory and inpatient oncology patients, including investigational study patients. The Oncology Specialist Pharmacist participates in clinical areas, interviews patients and formulates medication care plans. The Oncology Specialist monitors, evaluates and modifies patient pharmacotherapy plans to ensure effective, safe and economical patient care. The Oncology Specialist serves as a resource to the department staff, clinic and other hospital staff. They provide education and support to patients/caretakers and staff, and performs other job related duties as requested.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree with PGY-2 post-graduate residency training in Oncology (or minimum of 5 years clinical pharmacy practice in oncology) is required. Current RI Pharmacist license is required. Board Certification in Oncology (or Board-eligible) is preferred but not required.
