Job Summary:

The Sleep Manager is responsible for the oversight of the Sleep Lab located at Kent. and the Sleep & Pulmonary Clinics located in Warwick and Pawtucket. The individual serves as a resource for physicians and staff. The manager will work with the Lead Polysomnographic Technician in maintaining AASM standards for sleep center accreditation. This includes monitoring and maintaining quarterly Quality Assurance reports for in lab and home sleep studies for both locations as mandated by the AASM.  In addition, the individual will be responsible for implementing all new standards proposed by the AASM. This is needed for maintaining good standing with payors. The individual will assist in coordinating workflow in between the sleep clinics and the sleep lab with the goal of providing timely reports to referring physicians.  The manager will oversee all technologists’ staff working in the lab and will receive status reports from the lead technologist. The manager will work with the lead to assure that there is a seamless schedule among the techs performing in-center and home sleep studies. The manager will be a resource for the medical director and inform him/her when policies or standards need to change.  In addition, the manager will be a resource for referring physicians who have questions regarding scheduling and types of studies that need to be performed.  The manager may also be asked to be involved with marketing the services of the sleep programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Keeps a log of the number of home sleep studies and in-center sleep studies performed at both locations, identifies reasons for reduced or heightened productivity and keeps the Care New England Medical Group Practice Administrator informed of The Sleep Center performance.

Manages the daily administrative and clerical activities to ensure the efficient operation of Sleep Lab. Includes maintaining staffing schedule, inventory control and purchasing, maintaining files, payroll tracking Practice Management software training and other special projects.  

Ensures compliance with charge entry and hospital/practice regulatory policies and procedures and disseminates changes and/or additions to other staff members.

Develops systems necessary for efficient operation of Physician Practices (eg. Daily staff schedule, office processes, charge entry, filing system and inventory control.)

Creates and maintains physician schedules in the Practice Management system.

Oversees the charge entry process.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of general third party billing and coding regulations, including a working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding and Meaningful Use guidelines.

Ensures practice and staff compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Supervises office personnel, distributes and reviews their work, completes their evaluations. Addresses performance issues and initiates disciplinary action when necessary. Responsible for interviewing and orienting new employees and providing ongoing training as necessary.

Addresses and resolves customer/patient concerns and complaints.

Assists in developing and implementing departmental manuals and policies and procedures. Assists with development of the Departmental budget.

Performs Medical Assistant duties, including vital signs, EKG, Spirometry, pulse oximetry, glucose testing, pregnancy testing, quick strep testing and other non-invasive patient testing when necessary (and if qualified).

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred and at least 2 years of management experience. 

Experience with Sleep & Pulmonary specialty is desirable.
