Job Summary: Assists Site Manager in the operation and management of the Department of Pharmacy.
- Maintains staff schedule to ensure continuity of clinical services in conjunction with investigational study dispensing activities.
- Oversees the pharmacist’s role in the dispensing of investigational drugs.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on IV preparation and aseptic techniques
- Partners with Site Manager to coordinate biennial certification and environmental testing of sterile compounding equipment
- Trains back-up pharmacists on investigational drug protocols and aseptic technique
- Maintains accurate records of investigational drug inventory and ensures proper temperature storage requirements are met
- Communicates regularly with study coordinators to ensure timely preparation of investigational study meds
- Meets with clinical research associates to ensure compliance with study protocols and to be informed of any protocol amendments
- Maintains adequate inventory of IV drug supplies and completes purchase orders when necessary
- Updates Policy and Procedure Manual as needed.
- Assists Clinical Coordinator staff education through the scheduling of relevant in-services.
- Routinely monitors investigational study medication related occurrence reports.
- Serves on clinically relevant committees within the hospital and pharmacy community.
- Monitors adverse drug reaction reports for investigational drugs.
- Monitors financial impact of trends in investigational medications dispensing and preparation.
- Assists director in budget preparation.
- Provides acceptable justification for variances in pharmacy budget.
- Maintains Power of Attorney for the purchase of Controlled Substances
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
Training and Experience: Registered or eligible for registration in the State of Rhode Island
Special Qualifications: Board Certification in Pyschopharmacology is encouraged.
Schedule: 40/80 Full Time Days - Every Other Weekend
