Butler Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research Psychiatrist with clinical interest in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Interventional Psychiatry to join our team conducting cutting-edge neuromodulation research.

The position will be located in the internationally recognized Butler Hospital TMS Clinic and Neuromodulation Research Facility; Butler is the main psychiatric academic affiliate of the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a clinical role in the TMS Clinic/Interventional Psychiatry programs at Butler and develop their own area of externally funded research, in collaboration with established faculty in the Department of Psychiatry, the Alpert Medical School, and Brown University more broadly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and participate in research studies focused on clinically-relevant neuromodulation
  • Conduct clinical evaluations and provide interventional psychiatry (TMS and other) services for patients at Butler Hospital
  • Serve as a key member of the NIGMS-funded COBRE Center for Neuromodulation and the Butler Neuromodulation Research Facility team, including attending weekly team meetings, supervising research neuromodulation procedures and trainees as needed
  • Assist with grant applications and fundraising efforts to support the program's research initiatives
  • Collaborate with other researchers both within Butler Hospital and at external institutions

Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry
  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Interest in neuromodulation and interventional psychiatry
  • Experience with research or clinical application of TMS
